Quickies

Readers:
Thanks for the feedback on the site!

1) The Black & White flowers background issue has been corrected, and will load the right one!
http://www.jannypie.com/2009/01/free-background-black-white-flowers.html

2) There were some people getting script stop errors in Firefox. I have read up on the issue, and it appears to be a default Firefox setting, that allows only 10 seconds for the page to load. I will continue to keep checking into it, but users who have this problem on other pages also may want to read the steps given here, FireFox Unresponsive Script Error on mydigitallife.info. I changed my setting to 60 seconds, and the page loaded with not problem.

3) made some other minor corrections round and about

as always, thanks for the suggestions and comments, even pointing out errors helps me improve! :-)

This makes me laugh

One of the things I heart most in life... crafts with humor.

I would love to hand these out instead of business cards at times!

Wonderful wonderful weekend

The first craft show organized by Etsy Team Columbus was an incredible success this weekend! I was blown away by how well everything came together and the crowds we had. This team put together a show to rival anything in Columbus, and you can bet that you will be hearing more about these artists!

I had an absolutely wonderful time, and the visitors to my table had such nice things to say about my crafts. Seeing the smiles on people's faces as they found my Scented Science is what it is aaaaall about. I was successful in sales, but those laughs were priceless!

I will be posting photos soon about everything, and my own creations. It's been a busy few weeks getting ready. But wooooohooooo! This jannypie is celebrating inside!

A HUGE THANK YOU to ALL who stopped by to support us, including my Sweetest besties, the Nesties, and even an old friend whom I haven't seen in many years. You all are so greatly appreciated!

Hope you all had a WONDERFUL weekend as well, and have a great week!

Sweet comment from a reader

I don't normally do this, but I received such a sweet email from a reader this weekend.

Jan,

I just want to say thank you for posting your blog backgrounds. I have wanted a little blog makeover for a while, but just couldn't afford it right now and don't know when I would find the time to try it on my own. We care for my husband's grandmother & aunt along with their home so there is little time for what needs to be done much less anything extra. I just wanted to tell you I have had the biggest smile all day... it just felt special to me that someone would be willing to share their talents to benefit people they don't even know.

Thank you!
Kim

Kim, thank you so much for taking the time to send me this email. It touched my heart- I am so glad to share anything on my blog that makes someone smile, especially to such a caring person as you seem to be. It feels special to me to have come in contact with someone through my blog who makes such loving sacrifices for her family. Thank you for reminding me what this whole blog thing is all about- connecting with others, and trying to make things the better for it. :-)

jannypie crafts: the complete package

Readers, please let me introduce you to my new image: the revamped, put-together and all around complete package!

New image, meet your biggest fans, loyal cheerleaders, obsessive stalkers, random passersby, and most creative craftiers. "Hi!"

Pleasing color palatte, don't you think?

I have been putting a lot of effort into making a complete image, making my blog easy to navigate and inviting, and pulling all the various jannypie elements out there together. That all started by designing a new logo and banner.

Watch out, I'm soaring with scissors

I think it is so fun and excatly "me", while still being simple and clean. The owl is meant to be changeable and I will give him different styles and activities throughout my sites.

One of the first things I wanted on my blog was an easy to find and use search bar, and collection of important links. At the top of the page you can find all of these!

There is the RSS link to subscribe in a reader or via email. Also included are links to email me, my Twitter, Flickr photo album, Facebook fan page, and my Etsy store.

Just below the action, I have included a little welcome message, to greet new visitors and kind of give them an idea about where they are and what they will find here.

You will kindly notice the smooth rounded edges to my sections, quite pro, tyvm.

I've included some highlights throughout the information in the side, such as an area to find my new "Share This" button

My most recent Twitter feed

Shots of some of my favorite projects

and a little graphic with my owl pointing out the "Older Posts" links, so that new visitors know there is more cool stuff to find!

Keeping my new image going, I have created a matching Etsy banner and avatar set

And the same on my Facebook fan page

I feel as though as a blogger, an artist, a starting business woman, it is taking me a long time to build my foundations and creations, but it is all going in the direction that I have pictured in my head, and I couldn't be happier about that.

I truly hope you all like the new look, and I would love comments, positive or negative, it would please me to know what you think!

Thanks again, and I'm leaving you with a final graphic, which will be my post signature when read in RSS readers only... signing off,

CINCO DE Harwood!! Readers Wake Up!

Bet you thought this was a Cinco de Mayo post, didn't you?

It's even better, it's a Cinco de Harwood post, and all of YOU get to read a freeeeee preview of a book I completely dig, Jack Wakes Up by author Seth Harwood.

By now you should know two things about me: I love promoting people who have amazing talents, and I am an avid lover of audiobooks. This blog is my voice to share with as many people as I can the ideas, creations, and works by people who I think are just down right talented. And I have always been a book lover, I eat them up, and now in days of modern media, I love being able to listen to books while doing my daily activities.

So here's the third part about this: I know I post a lot about cutie crafts and things I heart, but I also heart stuff that has bad ass attitude.

Meet, Jack Wakes Up by Seth Harwood

Click the bood to read the first 3 chapters free

Jack Wakes Up is a crime novel set in San Francisco that Seth Harwood has written and provided as free segments as a podiobook on iTunes. This book is so good, and gotten so much support from listeners, that it has been picked up for print by Random House and goes on sale **TODAY** (hence the Cinco de Harwood... you get it.)

I've posted about podiobooks before here, and if you still don't know what they are, you need to get with the program, because digital media is the future, is the cutting edge of online marketing, and is one damned fine way to get some literature back into your life.

What’s great about this little podcasting niche is that it enables small, indie authors to share their work which would’ve not necessarily made its way into print. Even better, some authors get their books in print as a result of podcasting it. -Macuser.com

Oh look, here's a very convenient vid clip of Seth Harwood himself explaining to you how he has written and shared Jack Wakes Up.

I don't think there's any better way to sell you on the book than to let you check it out for yourself. So I read it as a podcast and I give it away to you for free. -Seth Harwood

Today Seth has created yet another new idea in grassroots promotions by providing his fans with free .pdf versions of the first three printed chapters of Jack. So do check them out for yourself. See if you like it too. Then, hop on over and order it for yourself, or maybe someone you know who likes suspenseful crime novels.

Read it right here!
