Bird pillow from Hobby Lobby

I got this bird pillow on clearance at Hobby Lobby, for $2.

It's perfect for this garden chair I've had in my room forever.

I stood there watching them go for a moment... This crazy group of people going off on an adventure that was no more exotic than a yard sale. The gray hairs were having as much fun as the kids. It was made all the more surreal when I thought that what they do in real life, when they're not selling trinkets at flea markets, is sailing a deep space leviathan between the stars. That wasn't exciting, because that was just their job.

Indie-Craft Show at the Ohio State Fair!

Soooooo. I bleve I failed to mention,

that I was accepted into the 1st Indie-Craft show at the Ohio State Fair!!!

It is being organized by the members of the Columbus Crafty Cotillion

*swoon all over my blog*

The ladies of the Crafty Cotillion are the definition of what is cool and successful in indie-crafts. As Columbus is a growing player in the indie-arts arena, this group is one of the stars leading the way. I never thought I'd get accepted to their show. I got accepted!

(I knowwwww what you are thinking. "oooh state fair, way to hit it big" Idon'tcare. Here in Ohio the state fair is huuuuge, and there will likely be a lot of people who see the show. That is great exposure! It is also a way for the handmade craft scene to make themselves shown to the public. Make way, country crafts! Ohio does not only belong to the basket-and-quilt crowd any longer!

jannypie hearts: meme embroidery

The new wave of fun, snarky, nerdy stitchings on Subversive Cross Stitch and Sublime Stitching is cracking up crafters around the globe. This gal is right in there with them, embroidering main characters from the interwebs most popular tube crawlers.

For die hard internet addicted dork fans like myself, this is ART! I am LOLing over here.

I messaged the artist, Kittyzilla, and requested The Llama Song and End of the World Flash, two of my favorite interweb stars! I might learn embroidery if she made those patterns!

Father's Day Card

So, I got a cricut.
From a very nice girl.
Then I bought SCAL.
It's tricky to use.
But I love it.
fathers day card
I made the "happy fathers day" text, and used .svg shapes to cut out the star and both squareish shapes (do they have a name?). My father in law is a big Harley Davidson guy, so I printed a vintage looking picture of one and added that as well.
It kicks the margerine out of any other card I've made, I think.
It took about an hour. I'm still in shock.

On my patio. Momma bird has been sitting on that nest for weeks, not moving a feather.
Mourning Doves are light grey and brown and generally muted in color. Males and females are similar in appearance. The species is generally monogamous, with two squabs (young) per brood. Both parents incubate and care for the young. Wikipedia

I am the owl

Well, we knew that. :-)
Facebook is so addictive

Jan completed the quiz "What Wild Animal Are You? " with the result You are the Owl.
You are very independent and wise. You spend your free time reading or thinking. You never speak without thinking through what you are going to say thoroughly. You have an opinion of most everything and are very good at arguing. You are the person people look to when they need advice. You are very independent and love being alone. You have an organized lifestyle and are extremely observative. You can be moody, but you are a pretty calm and generous individual..

jannypie sells her crafts

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
So, finally, I have started to build up my Etsy store again! Remember that I decided to make everything cohesive, so my store site is now just "jannypie.etsy.com" or you can search for "jannypie" under Sellers.

My friend has been helping me with descriptions and I have been taking better photos of everything, so I'm quite pleased and excited!

I will even be adding some jannypie classics back into the mix!

Please take a moment to see my Etsy store and maybe pass it on, or favorites it so you can check back easily. Thanks for all of your support!
