Some friends and I went to a local urban arts festival. It is put on to raise awareness of a struggling district in Columbus. They combined urban artwork, live skateboarding, local musicians, crafters and food vendors to create a small festival with a very cool atmosphere. I hope they hold it again next year because I will definitely be going.
He's fierce. It comes from his pirate father. He's cute. It comes from his owly mother. He's original. From my own doodle in pencil! He's flexible. I can cut it out with my Cricut. He's free. (Wait, what?) (Why would she give her design away for free?)
With a face like that, how can I NOT share?!

I have added a cool creepy tree on the front and my original SKOWLY on the back. This house is black and orange with wicked Halloween words and letters making typography terrifying. The whole house was created with detail in mind, from the paper patterns and colors to the overall eye-catching effect. Houses ARE sealed for outside use.

My friends also nominated me last year for this award:

And I had 32 votes! Maybe my readers this year can beat that number! (I double-dog-dare you!)
Kelly of The Bond Between Us Photography wanted something modern and pretty to match the stylish logo she designed. This blog has more post space for larger images, to best show off her fantastic photography. We kept it clean and simple, with vibrant colors and minimal lines. This design will really make Kelly's portraits the focus of her blog- as they should be!

Jan, thank you SO much for my new blog. My old one was so boring, but the one you created livens up my photographs and makes me excited to post pictures. Thank you for all of your help!
I am very happy to say that starting in September, I will be going part-time at my job!
As you may know, my degree is in Biology and I have been spending the past 5 years at a science research company. While I do love science, many factors have led me to want to cut back from full time. I cannot articulate how relieved, grateful, and excited I am about this. But I will not be un-productive! I plan to use the time to do MORE of the things I enjoy- including crafting and blogging!
Help me brainstorm:
Things I Want To Do When I Go Part Time
1. Sleep. I am so tired. I have had daily insomnia for approaching 3 years. I am simply out of energy.
2. Clean. Srsly.
3. Learn screenprinting.
4. Get my blog in shape: better sections for all the different areas, make it easier to find things.
5. Finish blog design orders. Like whoa.
6. Volunteer. I really feel the need to give back more of my time to those around me.

Crappy: I totally bombed at the Handmade Expo this weekend. As in, didn't-even-cover-my-entrance-fee-bombed. How many people do you know who would actually admit to that???
Happy: This weekend, we adopted this puppy, whom we have named Tigerlilly. Yes there are two Ls. She is called Lilly for short, she loves our current dog Rosemary, and Rose is not pleased to have a little sister.
Crappy: I was not chosen to be in the Holy Grail of 'alternative' craft shows here in Columbus, Craftin' Outlaws. The organizer was exceedingly nice enough to give me honest feedback about why I wasn't accepted, which was basically that my branding is good but doesn't fit the show. I can accept that. It's stinky poopy since the show is the type of branding I was going for in the first place, but I can admit failure when it punches me in the back of the neck, steals my lunch money, and calls me fat. This is not a Crappy about the show or the selection team, it's a Crappy about my own failure to convey my abilities. I should have submitted more of what I would actually have taken than just samples of all of my work. But, my creations aren't for everybody, or even mostbodies, and I have always known that. I can be okay with that.
Happy: I just won a giveaway from my all-time favorite scrapbooking designers, sassafrass lass. I won the embellish giveaway... ALL of the embellishments in this post! My favorite of which is this set of "song writers" stamps *swooning all over your monitor* (This is like, the scrappy jannypie version of winning the lottery. My cheer-up fairies must be looking out for me.)
Crappy: Yeah, I'm just going to stop here :-) My Happies are way better than my Crappies.
