New Shops+Projects+Delayed Hello

Hello out there, World,

Yeah I know, it has been a looong time since I have posted here or given this blog any attention. In the course of life-changingnesses, it was one project that fell by the wayside as I focused on other important things. But I always missed it, and gave it thought now and then, and wanted to pick it up again. I haven't stopped making things, I just haven't been sharing them with you like I used to, and I miss that.

Designs on ethically sound apparel at Skreened.com

While I've been away, I opened shops on Skreened and Zazzle to offer my designs on more things like t-shirts, posters and cards. Skreened offers ethically sound apparel and production processes for the eco-conscious, while Zazzle has a range of posters, cards, mugs and more in addition to inexpensive tshirt options. Check them both out!

I have also been working on many many projects: learning to make glass mosaics, creating some fantasy creature illustrations, started a set of mixed media collages with a "Wanderlust" theme, appeared in some art galleries and shows, and more. I'll try to post some of those projects so that you can see what all has been happening, in addition to posting the current things as well.

I'm a bit nervous about blogging again. My feed stats say there are many people still subscribed, and I hope to renew those connections and build again with new ones. Is there still a place for me here? I hope so.

Spring is coming

Sitting on my back porch yesterday, watching my dog sniff the ground and air and trees (and everything else), and I looked down and noticed the tips of the tulip bulbs have broken through. Winter is hard, and each time I notice a sign of Spring, new buds on branches, a warm breeze on my skin, sunlight earlier in the morning and late in the evening, each one is a tie unbound from my heart. So I took a Winter reindeer illustration of mine, and brought Spring to it. The first day of Spring is not here yet, but it is coming.

Scoundrels & Loose Women

Free downloadable and printable file for the Scoundrels and Loose Women out there.

The download is on a white solid background so that you can chose your favorite paper for printing (like a vintage textured one, for example).

One of my favorite blogs to visit is Indie Fixx (the tagline "indie like a foxx" gets me every time) which has, among great indie arts and style picks, a regular feature called Feed Your Soul. They offer free art from talented illustrators that can be downloaded and printed to hang. The site's author says "art is important for your soul. It helps rejuvenate, it’s thought-provoking, offers inspiration and can generally brighten an otherwise dreary day among other things." Because the economy is so poor and artists are being hit hard by people cutting back on their budgets, Indie Fixx set out to still offer the art that our souls need, and do it for free.
"Art is important for your soul."
"Scoundrels and Loose Women" is my version of offering free art to my friends and everyone else out there who could use a smile or chuckle in their day. When I first released this to my Facebook and Twitter friends, people really loved it and thought it is "extremely marketable." Several clamored for me to take it down and to sell it as a print instead, to local establishments or just online. But I wanted to create something that people would like (guys and girls both) and could have for free.

As a compromise and sort of experiment just to see, I am also offering the print in my Etsy store for 1/2 off the regular price of prints. So you can download it here to print yourself, or purchase it there printed and shipped, and the choice is entirely yours!
